HAPPY PRIDE MONTH

Although it’s almost over, we want to keep the spirit of Pride month up for awhile longer and share some amazing people and collectives that unite LGBTQ+ themes and art across the Baltic states!

In Estonia, you could look up people and collectives such as Jaanus Samma, Anna-Stina Treumund and Peemoti keskus/Behemoth’s Centre.


🔸Jaanus Samma is a visual artist based in Tallinn, Estonia. He is particularly known for his thorough exploration and reflection of gender and nationality, while aiming to locate queer subjectivity and desire in seemingly heteronormative spaces.


🔸Anna-Stina Treumund was dedicated to capturing the history of women, especially lesbian women, whether in literature, art, film or other cultural media.


🔸Behemoth’s Centre is an LGBTQ+ community centre in Tartu, Estonia, that is dedicated to providing a safe space for marginalized communities to express themselves and sell and

exhibit their art.

In Latvia, you can look up Mētra Saberova and The Baltic Drag King Collective


🔸Mētra Saberova is a Latvian performance and visual artist who co-founded the Baltic Drag King Collective. She actively curates exhibitions that intersect drag, gender empowerment, and political activism
🔸The ⁠Baltic Drag King Collective (BDKC) is a prominent grassroots community of queer, trans, and non-binary performance artists from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

In Lithuania, you can find people and groups such as Agnė Jokšė and Eglucy


🔸Agnė Jokšė is an artist and writer working between Vilnius and Copenhagen. In her films, written pieces and performances Jokšė investigates questions concerning queerness, non-normative language, parallel histories and entangled relations.
🔸Eglucy is an award-winning cosplayer, costume maker and artist.
