You have made your cosplay and want to perform with it, but have no idea what to do on stage? We are going to help you with some ideas to make a great performance audience will remember.
🎭 Dramatic scene/monologue
Choose a couple of phrases or a monologue sequence of the character directly from the source, put some fitting music on top. You can lip sync to the monologue while showing off your cosplay and props. This would be especially fitting if your cosplay is heavy and uncomfortable to move in, but the hardest part is to portray your character with emotions and acting.
⚔️ Battle scene
If your character is from shounen anime, mmorpg game or something similar, you can choreograph a fake battle scene with an epic soundtrack on top. It can look really cool in a duo performance, but you can also act out a battle scene solo, while showing off your beautifully crafted prop weapon in action.
🤡 Comedic skit
A very different approach is to make an audience laugh and do a parody of one of the scenes from a fandom you’re cosplaying from, or come up with a fun situation to put the character into, as long as they fit the character well.
🪩 Cosplay dance
Is your character an idol or a performer? Maybe they even have their own songs and choreos? In that case you can do a cover dance to a song you like and maybe even make audience sing along to the lyrics. Apart from being a fun performance type, make sure that you know the choreo really well and practice lip-synch, so that you feel confident and don’t panic on stage.
💡General tips
• Try to make your performance clear and understandable even for people who know nothing about the fandom you are cosplaying from.
• Always check the rules of a specific convention regarding music, props or the performance itself.
Remember to choose something fitting for your character and most importantly for you and your abilities. Be creative, have fun and good luck on stage.🧡
