While browsing through art-related media, you’ve probably noticed the occasional appearance of different art challenges and contests. Some are meant to motivate you, others to push your skills, and some are made just for fun. Today, we’re sharing some of the most popular ones among the artists🧡
🔸🖊️ Inktober
An annual art challenge that takes place every October, where artists create drawings based on daily prompts. Originally ink drawings from the list on official website, it has now expanded to different techniques and using alternative prompt lists – like Soltober. The main goal is consistency✨
🔸⚔️ ArtFight
Yet another annual event that happens every July, where artists split into two teams and “attack” by drawing each other’s OCs, while receiving drawing of their characters at the same time! It takes place in an official ArtFight website, so definitely check it out for more info.
🔸🎭 Draw This in Your Style (DTIYS)
The name speaks for itself – artists post their artwork with the tag #dtiys, and others redraw it in their own unique style. Sometimes done as a competition or celebration, other times it’s just for fun, but definitely worth trying!
🔸☎️ Broken Tablet Challenge
A fun challenge that starts with one artist creating a drawing, then blurring it into an unrecognizable cloud before passing it to another artist. The next person tries to guess what the original idea was and makes their drawing based on that. The process continues down a chain of artists, often resulting in the final drawing completely different from the first one.
🔸🎨 Art Summary
At the end of the year, artists often put together a template showcasing one favorite artwork from each month. It’s a wholesome way to reflect on your art journey, track your progress throughout the year.
Of course, there are plenty more out there – so share in the comments your favorite art contests and activities🧡
